A social service response for the neighbourhood — patience, de-escalation and dignity, not enforcement.
Call 911 for criminal activity, imminent danger, and serious medical distress.
A community safety service for the West Broadway neighbourhood.
Community Safety Hosts are out on foot through the area, moving between the organizations taking part and getting to know the people who live and spend time here.
When a participating organization calls, we respond. The approach is patience, de-escalation, dignity, and connecting people to what they actually need. It is a social service response, not enforcement.
If you are wondering whether it is worth calling, it probably is.
Call 911 for criminal activity, imminent danger, and serious medical distress.
We decide the response with you, not for you.
Someone on our team talks it through with you. That might mean a Community Safety Host team coming out, help over the phone, or connecting the person to another service.
We’re staffed on a schedule rather than around the clock. If you reach us outside coverage hours your message is picked up on the next operating day, and if you’ve asked us to, we’ll tell you how it was resolved.
Hosts are in the neighbourhood throughout their shifts. Calling us is open to organizations that have opted in, and any organization in West Broadway can join.
